Mental Health

Thinking can have a powerful impact on mental health. In the brain, like other human organs, energy is transformed. The transformation can be either a positive or negative outcome. This is why mental health is a priority in my private coaching practice. It's also why you'll find mental health a key part of my favorite wellness tool, The Wellness Inventory

Scientific research demonstrates the energy use of the thinking brain. When a person is connected to an EEG (a machine that measures brain activity), the various patterns of thinking or non-thinking reveal different electrical impulses. Think "hard"--and there is an increase in brainwave frequency. Think "soft"—and see that the brain waves slow down. After a day of headwork you will feel physically tired, because thinking takes energy.

Your takes in fuel in the form of food, of course. It also inputs ideas from other people through conversations, books, films, etc. You also take in all sorts of visuals, sounds, and sensory movement around you. Your brain files some of this energy for later use. The rest of the energy is available for daily functioning, making plans, solving problems, incubating dreams, and making connections.
